Wedding picks for the summer season

*This is a sponsored post.*

Wedding season is upon us and the trends and fashionable styles are different again from other years. When we got married 4 years ago there was a completely different style and even now, it looks a bit dated. My best friend is getting married next year and I am peripherally looking at all the gifts, trinkets, dresses and suits that are popular right now. It’s all so exciting!! Here are my top finds and picks for the wedding season.

Bridal/Bridesmaid’s

Let’s start with the most important bit… well it is, isn’t it! You can’t deny it! The bridal bits and pieces are the big thing with the Bridesmaids having a lot of “screen time” as well. This year my top bridal picks are all in the dresses. Lace is still top of the list but a slinkier fit seems to be all the rage. A-line (like I had) is not as popular any more and “Fit and Flare” seems to be the top choice. I adore lace and would’ve loved to wear it – but it just didn’t suit me. So what about the ladies that aren’t flattered by fitted lace numbers?

For those with a fuller body classic is still best. The 50’s style dresses flatter a fuller bust and a Boat neck style helps to ensure you don’t end up showing the puppies at the alter! There are some fantastic bargains if you’re willing to look but I would always steer away from the eBay/Wish type cheapie dresses. We’ve all seen the horrors that actually arrive, so you don’t want to waste the budget on that. Check reviews and feedback on all companies and you will definitely find something perfect for you.

Bridesmaids are in a similar boat. There is so much more selection now, and there are many sites that allow you to pick your colour and the actual dress is up to the ‘maid themselves. I love the idea of having different dresses in the same exact shade so think this is a fantastic move forward for bridal/bridesmaids wear. Once again, be careful of something that seems too good to be true. I’m loving Babaroni for both wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses right now – mainly because there is just so much choice and the prices are in reach for most budgets.

Grooms and groomsmen

Now you’ve sorted the ladies you have to sort out the men as well. Are you going to rent the suits? Do you want morning suits or a slim fitted style? There are equally as many companies online as bridal ones to help you find something that will be ideal for the man himself and his best man and ushers. Places like Suits Men offer something to fit every budget. It is definitely worth pricing up the cost of buying a suit you can use again, against renting one that will cost nearly as much. There is never *quite* as much choice with suits, but you can still personalise the look with the cravat, tie and handkerchiefs. The option of having a styled waistcoat is always there as well.

The other bits and bobs

If you’re getting married over the next 12 months keep your eye out for the best prices for the things you need. Many Facebook selling groups have cheap second-hand centrepieces and decorations – after all when your wedding is over, you don’t need 12 enormous Martini glasses and thousands of glass beads do you? Look at ways you can do things yourself, you could make your own favours or decorations yourself – Pinterest is THE best place for handmade ideas for weddings, so have a little look over there. At the end of the day, try and not stress about the small stuff. No-one remembers a wedding because of the table settings and chair covers alone, they remember the joining of you both as a couple and the party, enjoy every second as it goes far too fast!
