About Me

Hiya, I’m Clare, I am a midwife (who’d have guessed) and a mum (no way, how did you know?). I made my way into motherhood in August 2015 and since then have been causing chaos left, right and centre as I work out this parenting thing. I won’t lie, I like to tell you about my successes, but mostly my humorous failures – of which there are many.

I started writing when I was pregnant, I felt like a beached whale and wanted to tell the world that being “with child” was not always amazing fun. I didn’t glow and I definitely didn’t blossom. I stomped and moaned, really quite a lot. As I learned the ropes of being a mum I started documenting about family life and with it, the blog has grown.

If you’d have asked me 4 years ago if I liked writing, I would’ve told you no. But now I’m a little bit addicted to it. I love writing for my blog and other companies like BabyCentre UK and Huffington Post, and a day doesn’t go by without me writing something or another. Ok, I’m quite a lot addicted to it. I’ve also worked with some fab brands like Slendertone, Aldi, Caseapp, Jord Wooden Watches and Sudocrem among others.

My daughter, Isabelle, is now 3 and is a whirlwind of energy and fun. She has a strong distaste for sleep, which is, unfortunately, one of my favourite pastimes. She hates peas but loves bananas and will happily watch Ben and Holly, Peppa Pig or the Paw Patrol all day. The only problem is I have to watch them with her, I can’t be doing actual mum things when they’re on, gah!

I’m easily accessible by email, but if I’m not around I’m probably asleep. I’d advise you don’t wake me, I get grumpy when I’m tired. If you’re interested in my professional side, you can find my media kit here. I also have a sister site called Where Mama Went, which concentrates on things to do in my local area, Warwickshire. Have a little look over there if you’re looking for recommendations.

But for now, I’m off to watch another episode of Peppa, this time Peppa does some more inane crap and is as sassy as always, it is truly riveting viewing.

It *is* a giant leap into motherhood, as you put it in your self-description. 🙂 So glad I came across your blog today. If you’re ever interested in reading a long in-depth read about the changes that motherhood has on a woman’s identity, check out my book that is coming out in a few weeks, “Becoming Mother: A Journey of Identity.” (http://www.amazon.com/Sharon-Tjaden-Glass/e/B011LTYIVA?ref_=pe_1724030_132998060). I also blog at http://becomingmotherblog.wordpress.com. Hope to connect with you again!
