Playmobil Summer Camper review

Playmobil Summer Camper review

Now that Isabelle is older, the toys are getting a bit more interesting. No more rattles and teethers but more exciting things like Lego and, my personal favourite, Playmobil. We were sent a Playmobil Summer Camper to review, and as soon as we opened it I had all the nostalgia remembering playing with these when I was a kid. I’d completely forgotten about how intricate they are and the level of detail that is put into every tiny piece.

When we opened the box we were greeted with an instruction manual and all of the small pieces separated into little packages. I got straight to building it – something I always really enjoyed as a child. It took me about 10 minutes in total and was really easy. Isabelle was spellbound, as the pieces fitted together you could see the magic in her eyes as she realised what it was going to be. This was the first time she had ever seen anything like this, and she practically ripped it out of my hands when I was done.

The kit comes with the van plus an awning, 4 little “beds”, a picnic set and four figures plus their bits and bobs (think a tiny camera, a surfboard, shoes etc). The kit for inside the van is complete with plates, cups and food items, and the shower head elongates to get to all those hard to reach areas. Around the back of the van there is a storage area – after all, you need to put the picnic table somewhere when you’re hitting the road!

Since building it a couple of weeks ago, Isabelle has played with it every day. Honestly, it’s something we now use as a bribe to get her to do what we want. So far we haven’t lost any little flip flops or plates, but I know that’s only a matter of time. I am so impressed with the whole set, I had honestly forgotten how robust they are. I could see this item lasting years, just like the old days. My friend was telling me her son is currently playing with Playmobil that she had when she was a child, and it is just as good. Playmobil really make the effort not only to the detail in each piece but the longevity as well. You can tell that you get what you pay for.

I personally think I have now opened Pandora’s Box, my daughter is hooked so I can see many years of Playmobil present buying ahead. So maybe the review item was a double-edged sword?! No, not really, it’s great so if you’re looking at a birthday/Christmas present this would be ideal. Currently priced at £39.99 on their website, it isn’t an everyday buy, but definitely worth it if you’re looking for something a little more special.

*I was sent the Playmobil Summer Camper in exchange for an honest review, the thoughts here are my own.
