There aren’t many toys that come my way that Isabelle plays with. I usually buy her cute toys or teddys expecting a look of excitement, but usually, she looks at me like I’ve given her a plate of broccoli for her dinner. When I was asked by Lucy Locket to review a toy, I was praying she would like it, and thankfully the second she started to open the Lucy Locket wooden tea set she was spellbound. Yes spellbound, that is the only way I can describe it.
Her little face lit up and she ripped off the wrapping like it was Christmas and couldn’t wait to play with her loot.
The set (available here) comes with 12 pieces: a teapot, 2 cups, 2 saucers, 2 spoons, 2 cakes, a milk jug and a tray, and it’s a perfect size for little hands. Isabelle immediately started to pour herself some tea and even learnt the word “milk” from me telling her what the jug is for.
When I am sent an item to review, I usually take it to get some photos without sticky little fingers around, but Isabelle wouldn’t let the tray go. I wasn’t about to start “toddler-world-war-3” so I let it pass and she kept on playing with it for about 5 days straight. At one point she was “pouring” tea into the dog’s crate so he could have a drink, followed by screams of “caaaaakkkkee” as she ran around with a little wooden jam roly-poly.
So I guess you could say I was number 1 Mummy for a few days.
On a parental note, the build quality of the set is fantastic, and the parts are safe for little-uns, I am a massive believer in make-believe play and role play and this ticks all the boxes for that. And to be honest, how can I make a single complaint when my daughter was just so happy to open the “gift”.
Lucy Locket you are fabulous, and my daughter thinks I’m great too. Bonus!
