All about me #Blogtober18

This year I have decided to take part in Blogtober – this is a yearly blogging challenge where you publish a new post every day in October, following a different theme each day. It is hosted by Big Family Organised Chaos. Day one is “All about me”, so let’s get started!

If you’re new to my blog or haven’t followed me for long then this may be brand new information (think Pheobe Buffay) if you’ve been here a while, then it may be revisiting old ground. So let’s get acquainted – I’m Clare and I’m going to be 29 in a couple of weeks. I am a midwife by day, I work as a Lead Midwife at the moment, and a mum, well, all the time. I have one daughter called Isabelle, who’s three and I’m from Warwickshire, I’ve have always lived around here. I started my training as a midwife 9 years ago (!!) and have worked in every aspect of midwifery; from the highest risk labour ward to the community and everything in between. I won’t lie, delivering babies is not my favourite bit and I prefer the community aspect over the others. However, I love what I’m doing now and wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I’ve been blogging now for 3 and a half years now and have a sister blog called Where Mama Went which talks about local restaurants, attractions and days out in Warwickshire. In the past, I’ve been a resident blogger for BabyCentre UK and I’m now doing some vlogging work with Mumsnet. I would love to make writing my full-time job and am currently writing a book – although let’s not get ahead of ourselves, the chance is it’s probably a little bit crap.

My favourite things include peanut M&Ms and drumstick squashies, Champagne (however it’s usually Prosecco), knitting, crochet and stationery, I would fill my house with yarn and notebooks if I could. My favourite food is chippy chips and I have the willpower of a gnat. I can be easily swayed to have a takeaway and live by the motto that “you only live once”. My bucket list includes: having afternoon tea at the Savoy, to visit New York, Hawaii and go on a Scandinavian cruise all the way to Russia and back.

I could go on and on, but I’m pretty confident you’ve had enough now. Tomorrow’s post is about boobs, yes boobs. Blogtober18 is talking breast cancer awareness for day 2. So check back to see what I’ve got to say about that!

Welcome to Blogtober! If I had not chosen to have so many children, midwifery would have definitely been my career choice, although I have loved giving birth so i’m not sure I could deal with the mums who didn’t just get on with it! I can’t believe Isabelle is 3 already, I swear she was only a small baby!! Looking forward to finding out more as the month goes on x

Being a midwife always sounds like such a wonderful job. It sounds like you have done it all. I bet you have some amazing stories to tell.
Good luck with the book! It’s lovely to know more about you x

We have lots in common; Drumstick squashies are my favourite sweet, I can’t stop buying notebooks, I LOVE chippy chips and the top item on my bucket list is to visit New York, preferably at Christmas.
I’m going to enjoy learning more about you this month :o)

OMG! A Midwife who admits delivering babies isn’t the best bit! I used to want to be a midwife – but the one who visits you at home and gets to hug the squishy babies and chat to mum. I couldn’t handle being at the business end so definitely not the job for me haha!

Blogging is my full time job these days – its ridiculously stressful, not knowing how much money will roll in from one month to the next. I would go back to nursing tomorrow if I could. Good luck with your book – Writing one has been on my bucket list since before bucket lists were even a thing.

I’m joining in with #Blogtober18 for the first time too. Lovely to ‘meet’ you. I’m very jealous of your occupation. I always wanted to be a midwife from the age of about ten. Looking forward to following you through October x

Great blog post Clare, lovely to have a read. I am quite jealous of your chosen career, wish i could train to be a Midwife… alas a family business, 2 kids, 1 husband and no extended family for support puts a stop to that. Look forward to reading more over the month.

Nice to meet you. I bet being a midwife is rewarding but I guess it is not always a happy job to have.
Good luck with your book, I started writing a book, it is nowhere near finished, I doubt it ever will be haha. #Blogtober18
