We saw animals – it was cool!

A few weeks ago, the Mumsy Midwife household kept up a time honoured tradition, we all went to the Pet Show at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. This was our 3rd visit and the first with a child! Last year I was heavily pregnant and my waters broke the following day, the walk around definitely got things going, so I was glad that I could peruse with Isabelle in a buggy and not with a massive baby bump! The weather was absolutely amazing, a lot of the events are held outside and no one wants to sit around in the rain watching dogs jump over things really, do they? So that was a bonus.

The idea of the event is that all different kinds of animals are all brought together to show off their best bits. There are always donkeys, alpacas (woo), cats, dogs and smaller animals to have a look at and sometimes tickle, that’s my favourite bit. Last year I tried to run away with this little cutie, but as you can tell, I wasn’t running anywhere fast! You can see my bump by my arm… bloomin’ massive I was!

Unfortunately, the pet bit was a lot smaller this year. Usually, there are small chicks, rabbits and guinea pigs to look at, but they shelved that this year. We did get to see a lot of cats and Isabelle stroked her first alpaca.

There was still plenty to see, including a food festival. I know, a bit of an odd thing to have at a pet fair, but nonetheless, we enjoyed this probably more than the actual pets. The stands came up trumps offering us free Prosecco to try, along with cheeses, chocolate and wines. I was a bit squiffy by the time we made it around the whole thing and also by the time we ran into Nadiya who won Bake Off last year. I walked straight past her, oblivious as always, but my father in law pointed her out so I couldn’t miss out on this photo opportunity. Isabelle’s first celeb, not that she cared, she stuck her finger in Nadiya’s mouth and had no shame in poking her as well.

Once we’d eaten all the free stuff we stopped for a spot of Camel racing, as you do, then came home for nap time. We’re already planning our trip next year!

Looks like fun and hopefully will stay a family tradition. Between us we’ve met number 1 and 2 from the bake off last year! It’s starting soon can’t wait, I love it! Thanks for being my #stickyfingers and general blogging bestie.
