We are LOVING Shetland on BBC1 this year. I never get chance to see much TV and when I do, I’ll be honest, it’s usually “Dance Moms”. But My hubby and I stumbled upon this one week and now we are hooked. Basically to cut a long story short, I would say it was like “Broadchurch” in the north.
Now I bet you’re wondering why I’m telling you this? Well, I don’t get out much, let’s face it, having a seven month old bundle of “joy” ruins your evening plans. See my post on BabyCentre about things I do now I’m a parent – including never going out after 6.30pm. But the truth is I have fallen in love with the Shetland Islands. That was a sentence I never thought I’d say.
Since the third season started (I am so behind, I called my mum raving about this “new” series on BBC) I always seem to find myself on my iPad googling stays to Shetland. But do you know what? It’s really expensive. And the lovely hotel in the show isn’t a hotel I can find online (please tell me what it’s called, if it’s real). I would just love to go and see what life was like up there, maybe even take the ferry over there (although with a baby, I’m sure flying would be easier).
So here I am officially saying I want to go on holiday to Lerwick, or anywhere in the vicinity. Anyone that can help me, let me know! If you live or have visited there, what are your recommendations?
The Shetland Islands tourist board… Are you looking for an ambassador?
