So almost a month has passed since the previous update and a few things have moved forward.
We have sold our house (yipeeee) and found another house which in which we’ve had an offer accepted! So pretty much everything you wish to achieve when house hunting.
It was all very intimidating, the house we “won” the bid on was being viewed by 40, yes 40(!) other couples at the open house. We rocked up and found ourselves amongst 20 of the couples viewing in the 1 hour slot allocated for the viewings. No word of a lie, all of them were making the “I like this house” noises and some were even talking to the agent about when can they move in. We fell in love with the place immediately (as did the other 39 viewings I would wager); but after navigating the “war zone” of the competition we then had the next, and biggest hurdle… making the bid count. As I mentioned in my first post in the series, around here, you have a closed bid system with many of the houses; and you have one shot at bidding the highest, no re-bidding, no second chances.
Luckily for us, we had the highest offer… but with a caveat.
We had to sell our house within the next 7 days or they would go to the next highest bidder.
So no pressure then!
We then had the open house to end all open houses and cleaned like we’d never cleaned before. Every thing related to my daughter was hidden or sent to the grandparents to hide for our “golden hour”, we even took our cat to the park so she wouldn’t ruin our freshly created ambiance!
At the eleventh hour… we accepted an offer meaning we could proceed with our purchase.
Thank the lord in heaven that our viewings were booked 3 days after we found out about our “clause”.
So for now we are sending off the paperwork, solicitors, mortgage lenders, searches… you know the drill. No moving dates yet… but I’ll keep you posted!
If you fancy leaving comment, please do, they always make my day!
